Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

syringe.jpgAccording to Jenny McCarthy her son, Evan, has officially been undiagnosed with autism. In an interview with Greta Van Susteren, a Fox News Host who interviewed McCarthy regarding the Green our Vaccines rally that took place in Washington D.C. June 6.

Vaccine Scheduling Tool

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

syringe.jpgWhile I was visiting the doctor today I inquired about my son’s vaccine schedule only to find out that he is, in fact, required to have several vaccines before he enters kindergarten in the fall. I know, though my own research, that I can opt of out some of them but I also know that my son’s health is at stake no matter what I chose to do.

There is also a new Internet scheduling tool (ages 6 and under) from the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designed to make sure everyone keeps their children on the schedule (because we all know how transient we are these days). The schedule takes about 10 seconds to download with an up to date computer but you also must go through the install process (which takes another 10 seconds to add to your desktop). (more…)

What is Autism Omnibus?

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Yes, I am just as confused as most of the general public…and I even made a mistake in yesterday’s posting (corrected).

I followed the Autism Omnibus last year but knew little of it, as I was new to the whole autism world. But, as I have become more familiar with vaccines, court, compensations, etc. it has become more familiar to me. (more…)

Autism Court and Vaccines: Part II

Monday, May 12th, 2008

syringe.jpgThe debate isn’t over despite what lawyers and doctors want. Parents are insisting that vaccines with Thimerosal and mercury are the direct link to autism and are determined to prove it in the United States Court system.

For the second time just this year families are back in court claiming that vaccinations triggered autism in their young children. The specific case began today and features two 10-year-old boys from Portland, Oregon, William Mead and Jordan King. They are considered test cases to determine whether or not the thousands of families should get compensation, as those two boys, much like the other children they represent, had been developing normally before the vaccinations. Is a Payout Fair?

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

syringe.jpgYou have all heard the news; that a monetary compensation is imminent for the Poling family, a Georgia family who filed, and won, a claim against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services because their daughter, Hannah developed autism after the 9 vaccines she received when she was 19 months old. However, it seems that Hannah Poling actually has a mitochondrial disorder that was exasperated by the vaccines, not autism. Ironically, the courts did not make a clear cut link between the vaccines and autism.

McCain Tosses His Hat Into the Autism Debate

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

957973_elephant.jpg“It’s indisputable that autism is on the rise among children,” Senator John McCain said while campaigning recently in Texas. “The question is, What’s causing it? And we go back and forth, and there’s strong evidence that indicates that it’s got to do with a preservative in vaccines.” (more…)

The UGLY Truth About Vaccines and Measles

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

syringe.jpgEvery parent makes their own choices based upon science, medicine, religion, or even theology or ideology. But, when does the safety of other children come into play?

I talk a lot about how vaccines affect the public, the safety of vaccines, the medical aspects of vaccines, and our family policies.

And the Vaccine Debate Goes On: Green Our Vaccines

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Since 1986 the number of vaccines the CDC recommends has gone from 10 to 36. But do we, as parents, HAVE to give our children all those vaccines?
syringe.jpg

New studies show that most children will naturally chelate toxins like mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, ether, and antifreeze (?) out of their system within weeks (thus the fever and flulike symptoms for a few days…the body working hard to get rid of the toxins?). (more…)

The Best of the Best…The Posts You Love

Monday, December 10th, 2007

What have your favorite posts been? It looks like you all want practical solutions to problems in the daily life. Here is a recap from the last 6 months.

How to Avoid Holiday Meltdowns
: We have already entered our holiday meltdown mode… and the giggles and wiggles are in full force. The only saving grace we have found this year is plain ole’ quiet time. We have altered our holiday plans this year to include less family time, less busy on the go time, and a lot less lights and glitter.

I Want Candy, GFCF Solutions:…This is not just for Halloween! This came in handy just today when we were making our Gingerbread Train, a new holiday favorite of AJ’s. I chose all candies that were GFCF…gumdrops, wreaths, reindeer corn, peppermints, and even marshmallow santas (which were a big hit).

Aspergers and Top Model: Heather, from America’s Top Model, was certainly intriguing…and she made it a long way. But, was Top Model using her for her disability or did she really deserve to be there?

Jenny, Enough:
Despite the fact that I like what Jenny had to say in the beginning the entire McCarthism Autism Vaccination Era needs to come to an end…Vaccinations do not cause autism.

A Successful Halloween: You all loved this post and I am assuming it is because it had advice on how to deal with the biggest kid holiday in the fall…how to allow your child to have fun without darkening his/her night. And, the good thing is that it is possible. Did it work?

Billing Codes May Prevent Autism Screening:
Well, because we can’t let this happen, can we?

Fisher Price Lead Disaster: The post that started it all…well, after Thomas the Train collapsed the market. Make sure to check out my Lead Free Toys List over at My Two Boys and I still have two toy giveaways going on over there!

Major Autism Study Begins

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

The largest autism study, The Study to Explore Early Development, is now underway at Kaiser Permanente. The five-year, $5.9 million study will look at genetic and environmental reasons for the increase in diagnosed cases. Specifically, it will be looking at the recent rapid increase in diagnosed cases.

Researchers will be looking at 2,700 children who have autism, other neuro-developmental delays, and typically developing children. They will research their family medical history, the mother’s pregnancy, previous medication the birth mother took, vaccination history, and exposure to harmful substances.

“We’re looking for factors that might be associated with predicting these conditions,” Croen said. “Once we identify factors, if these findings are replicated in other scientifically valid studies, then you can start building intervention strategies and prevention strategies.”

The Truth About Autism, is Chelation False Hope?

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Personally, I think we have a good thing going here. Since beginning his Chelation Therapy four months ago, AJ has changed. He is more verbal, less agitated, transitions easier, can now stand to go to the bathroom (and make it into the water almost all of the time), is hitting less frequently, and is much more affectionate.

He went through his stages…more crashing, yeast die-off, monster tantrums and screaming rages all day, and nights that he did not sleep because his body was going through something strange.

Dr. Rahul K. Parikh, a pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, wrote in his article, The Truth about Autism, that when one of his patients came in two years ago requesting biomedical testing (similar to Little Pickel’s recent testing) that he did had to admit his mainstream medicine had little to offer them.

Then I respected his mother’s wishes and ordered those lab tests that I knew her insurance plan would cover (she chose an outside lab for the others). All of these tests turned out to be normal. The additional tests, which Andy’s family paid for, showed a question of some minor nutritional deficiencies. For this, Andy’s doctor placed him on about a dozen nutritional supplements, some of which cost up to $80 for a one-month supply.

jenny2.jpg

On the recent Oprah show, Jenny McCarthy says that Chelation and biomedical “cures” are just what her son needed to recover from Autism. And, they are just what AJ needs. Right now I am undecided on whether or not I am going to vaccinate him again. I don’t give him the flu shot because its not necessary but does he need the rest? If I chose to not vaccinate I have to find a new pediatrician because she won’t see him unless he is vaccinated. Talk about Old School…

What do you all think?
