Friday Freebies- The Basics
Colors, ABC’s, shapes? The basics, right? And every preschooler should know them.

But, its hard when they don’t know them because they have visual processing disorders and fine motor skill delay. We have started working on these things at home by printing out worksheets and doing them after breakfast and before dinner. It keeps him occupied and he loves it. Sure, he gets frustrated at times and I do have to sit with him to focus him but he is learning and he is engaged in an activity.
We also have a book that is dry erase and he loves to go through that one on his own.
Nonetheless, here are some printables that I found for you to keep your little ones active, learning, and to help get them on track.
Colors, shapes, and fine motor skills- A balloon worksheet that provides the child with the colors. The child needs to match the colors from the bottom shape to the top and then color the shape. They can also trace the outline of the balloon. (Note: the directions say to cut out the shapes but I suggest coloring.)
Shapes and Fine Motor Skills- Cut out the shapes at the bottom of the page and match the shapes at the top. Glue the shapes down to the paper.
Alphabet Tracing Train- This is my son’s favorite, mainly because it is in the shape of a train. For kids like AJ, tracing can be done best (and learned best) when done on an incline so tracing on an easel or on a wall is a great way to start. When you are done it is a great way to display what your child has done!
Connect the Dots- AJ can count well but counting items is difficult for him. Likewise, putting things in order is as well so connecting the dots, something visual, is difficult. Eye hand coordination is key here so help is needed.
Any more that you know of and love?
