Internet Browser for Kids with Autism
Ever wonder how your child will ever be able to learn how to use the computer without completely crashing it? Yeah…so did I. All AJ wants to do is press the buttons and all he really does is destroy my settings.
But, there is a solution! The Internet is actually a great place for kids to learn. They can research (just like us), find entertainment, and socialize. For kids with autism the Internet can be frustrating because it can be visually overstimulating and too confusing.
John LeSieur, a grandfather of a 6 year old with autism, created the Zac Browser for Autistic Children so that his son could be comfortable with the computer. LeSieur runs a small software company and has made the browser free to everyone.
The browser has hand-chosen websites such as educational games, music, videos, and images like a virtual aquarium. Keyboard buttons that could be confusing are disabled so that children can navigate easily.
