Is Mitochondrial Disorder the Real Reason for Autism?
The Vaccine Court has been in session for more than a decade debating whether or not Vaccines actually cause autism. A total of 4,900 families have signed on to participate in the Vaccine Court.
However, in March of 2008, a case was settled that determined that Mitochondrial Disease contributed to the child’s autistic-like symptoms. Although Hannah Poling, the child in question, does not actually have autism, she has many of the autism symptoms, indicating that many children with Mitochondrial Disease could have autism.
Autism Speaks declared in late December that over 65 % of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder were found to have Mitochondrial Disorder, or MtD. Additionally, children with MtD are at risk for autism when they take vaccines.
Mitochondria is the part of every cell in the body that contains genetic material. They are responsible for processing oxygen and converting substances from every food we eat into the energy that is essential for all essential cell function. Because Mitochonrial cell function is a relatively new science doctors are still researching the disease and finding new information, especially about Autism Spectrum Disorders and how it relates.
However, Mitochondrial Disorders are now though to be the most common disease associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders. According to David Kirby some estimate that 10-20% of all autism cases may actually involve Mitochondrial Disorders, “which would make them one thousand times more common among people with ASD than the general population.”
What Kirby presents is what is most interesting: that the new Mitochondrial Disease is not inherited like the classic or typical MtD is but it is sporadic, which appears in almost 75% of all Mitochondrial Disorders and seems to be most Autism Spectrum cases.
What happens with MtD is that when given vaccines the MtD is aggravated, similar to the case of Hannah Poling, and autism-like symptoms appear (children with MtD are susceptible to autistic regression, triggered by a vaccine-induced overtaxing of the immune system)
In fact, Kirby recently reports that the boy who was supposed to replace Poling in Vaccine Court has the same Mitochondrial Disease and will now not represent Autism Spectrum Disorders for the Vaccine Court.
Have any of you had your child tested?
