Who is to Blame, CBS or Jasinski?

by Marcie

big-brother.jpgEvery person who has not had their head stuck in the sand for the last ten years knows that the word Retard is just not cool. But when the word is said in front of millions of viewers a person can be condemned for saying it.

Adam Jasinski, a contestant on Big Brother, CBS’s reality television show that is known for its controversial contestants.

Social standards today dictate that comments like this are discriminatory, no matter who you are or what you do for a living. But, sometimes it takes people like reality castmate, Sheila, to stand up for entire communities.

But there seem to be some other things that Adam has done that are equally despicable.

1. This United Autism Foundation is currently selling Autism Products as well as some Big Brother Products to help support Adam and the Autism Community.

The site states that the following programs have been initiated by Adam Jacinski and UNIAF but there is no documentation (or further links on the site): Food for the Poor Program, Disaster Victim Program, Therapy Support Program, Dolphin Therapy Center, Hippo Therapy Center, Research in Prevention. (I find it interesting that the site states that there are programs in Hippo Therapy when it should be Hippotherapy. Sure, could just be a typo or could it be ignorance?)

2. Now, there is also this link to UNIAF…thanks to the fabulous sleuthing by Mindless Mommy. This one looks quite more credible although it is certainly not a foundation but rather a CORPORATION.

On another note, I am also wondering if he has been fired, if he was let go, or if he quit before he left for Big Brother. Now, I don’t quite know when Big Brother began airing but it looks as if UNIAF posted a job opening December 27, 07. (Thanks to Scott at Written in Maine, a former segment producer for Big Brother.)

At this point in the game, who is to blame?

Is CBS to blame for faulty background checks, for poor editing (its obvious to the public that comments like that should NOT be aired even if it is considered GOOD TV), for not issuing a statement and an apology?

Is Jasinski to blame for playing the Autism Card, for being rude and discriminatory, and for allegedly setting up a false foundation?

I think they’re all to blame.

    (1) Adam Jasinski for making the initial comment. Completely inappropriate without a doubt.

    (2) CBS - first for even airing it, but also for not doing a thorough enough background check on this scumbag. There’s too many signs indicating there’s something fishy with this UNIAF / Adam Jasinski thing. Things just don’t seem on the up and up with either one of them if you ask me.

  2. friscomom Says:

I blame the both of them. I really think that the IRS should be looking into their foundation, compan or what ever you want to call them as they seem way to fishy.
Why would you want to promote an employee that no longer works for you with his picture on items that are supposedly going to help benefit autism?

CBS owes all of us with special needs children an apology and Adam should be dropped kicked out of the house.
Adam should be made to apologize as well. I hope that he never has the ability to work with anyone that has any special needs.
If he by chance should win I would want to know where his salon is as I would not want to take my child there. One never knows how he would treat them let alone how their hair would turn out.
I also blame the sponsors for not demanding a public apology as well!
There are many sponsors that I will as well as CBS continue to boycott until an apology is noted.

    Good point about the sponsors.
